I am a retired history professor involved with writing about Dwight D. Eisenhower as well as the history of U.S. foreign, military, and national security policy in the 20th and 21st centuries. I also am interested in the art of the memoir, the biography, and the novel. I am concerned with history's lessons for the American political economy, including its proper functioning and maintenance as a source of enhanced human well being at home and in the world. Finally, I am involved with efforts to locate, preserve, and make publicly available the artifacts and original sources of the World Wide Web and its evolution to the present. I enjoy travel, photography, sailing, oil paintings, art history, architecture, children, grandchildren, friends, and supporting my wife's involvement in the art of quilt making.
